Air Testing

We are able to provide a full range of air pressure testing services required to comply with the strict air leakage standards of Part L of the Building Regulations. We work with both domestic and commercial buildings on sites across Devon and Cornwall and take pride in making your route to Part L compliance as simple as possible.

Our air leakage tests determine the level of uncontrolled air flow through gaps or cracks in the fabric of the new building. Results are expressed as a quantity of air leakage (m3 per hour) per square metre of building envelope and benchmarked against the current requirement of 10m3/h/m2.  We offer site-specific, sensible and practical advice

Our air pressure testing service includes not only prompt tests and fast production of certificates, but help in identifying areas of air leakage and giving advice on improvement measures to ensure you obtain the best possible results.

SOUND AND ACOUSTIC TESTING

Approved Document E dictates that at least 10% of new dwellings must be tested for acoustic performance, to ensure that the levels of insulation separating the dwellings meets with the regulation’s minimum standards.

Whilst compliance can also be achieved by using design details approved by Robust Details Ltd, acoustic testing and certification is typically preferred as a more accountable, quantifiable means of acceptance that is beyond reproach.

The nature of the test in each situation depends on the type of dwelling. Buildings with party walls and floors require a set of six separate tests to establish wall performance against airborne sound, as well as floor performance against airborne and impact sound. Building control will influence the selection of rooms to test.

For any site in Devon & Cornwall, we can attend site, work with building control to measure the acoustic performance and issue the appropriate certification to make sure you pass Part E quickly and efficiently. If you don’t pass, we work with you to plan remedial action for a re-test

MECHANICAL EXTRACT TESTING

Building Regulations Part F requires intermittent extractor fans (such as kitchen and bathroom fans) to have flow rates tested to show that they are fit for purpose and working efficiently. We are able to offer this service alongside our other testing services to ensure you achieve compliance.
